THE DIVINE CALLING
Born November 15, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Marvetta Taylor and William Cheatham, Carol’s foundation began early. At Joshua Missionary Baptist Church, under the musical direction and influence of her mother, she discovered a love for singing and ministry that would become a thread throughout her life. She went on to sing in various choirs, leading songs including “Nobody but Jesus,” “Holy One,” “Change,” “Bless That Wonderful Name,” and “When the Saints Go to Worship.”
By the age of 15, her gift was already opening doors. Carol became a charter member of the Steve Coleman Concert Choir and traveled nationally with the ensemble as a first soprano, sharing stages with gospel figures including The Clark Sisters, Thomas Whitfield, and Rev. James Cleveland. Her passion for performance continued at Crispus Attucks High School, where she participated in choir and the performing arts. She later entertained audiences at Indianapolis’ Kendall Inn before entering a new chapter of her life when she married the love of her life, Keith Jones, on September 26, 1987.
Yet music was only one expression of a much larger calling.
With a servant’s heart, an authentic spirit, and a fearless commitment to proclaiming the Word of God, Carol has spent decades pouring into the lives of others. Her journey bears witness to the hand of God upon her life, and she has transformed both triumphs and trials into opportunities to encourage, restore, and empower others. Since 1993, she has poured wisdom into children, young women, couples, families, and communities, carrying a particular passion for encouraging women to recognize the beauty, strength, and purpose that comes from within. Her setbacks and triumphs serve as a personal classroom that has shaped how she ministers today.
In 2014, alongside her husband, Overseer Keith Jones, Carol was installed as First Lady of Life Restoration Church in Indianapolis. She would later step into the role of Executive Pastor. Life Restoration Church centers its ministry on the healing and restoration of God’s people, a mission that closely reflects the work Carol has made central to her own calling.

That same spirit of service has fueled Carol’s work beyond the pulpit. In 2016, she founded C. Denise, Inc., a life-coaching and women’s empowerment venture created to encourage, equip, and support women navigating difficult seasons while helping them recognize their worth, purpose, and potential.
During this time, her visionary leadership also gave rise to initiatives including Jesus Crew: Children’s Ministry, Abigail’s Heart, I Am 31, Queen For Her King, and Holy Grounds, where her beloved homemade “Brookies” became a ministry favorite. In the mid-to-late 2010s, Carol also spent time at the University of Indianapolis, where she coached and mentored undergraduate students.
Carolyn Jones Ministries now provides another avenue through which she carries that calling beyond the walls of her local church. Through preaching engagements, teaching, and other ministry opportunities, she continues to use her voice to uplift women, strengthen families, encourage churches, and serve communities wherever God opens a door. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies through the College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas, continuing to deepen her theological foundation as she prepares for her next season of ministry and leadership.
